The electronic music competition contestants are having their mixes judged now.
The scores can be seen here until the end of September. Also you can still enter up until the 20th August.

So what Does it Mean for Spring/Summer 2011?

Presently I am giving the existing artists and all comers (new artists) the chance to win for first prize a copy of the professional music production package Fruity Loops 10. Second prize is my copy of techno 4 I won in 2004 from Empire Interactive/ Diesel UK, which is still sealed and one of the promotional compact discs I received with it. The pair effectively authenticate each other.

5 Runners up each get a of one of the promotional cds I won back in 2004. Unfornately folk there are no cash alternatives to the prizes, but I am sure a sealed Techno 4 with the authenticating promo CD would be valuable on E-bay.

All winners and runners up also receive £25 of samples from http://www.soundloopsheaven.co.uk/.

How do Artists Enter?

Artists simply need to submit a mix and mark mention it as being a competition entry. There is presently an mp3 uploading area under construction, but in the meantime if you wish to submit a competition entry you can email me at nigel@the-rox.org. In order to allow artists to finish a masterpiece under construction they have until the end of August 2011 to send their mix.

Artists can submit a maximum of two mixes into the competition.

Who is Judging the Mixes?

Presently the judges will include me, the original JJ and a secret person who is linked to classical music. If Colin Jooseman would like to come forward or any VIP' s from the original Empire Interactive then they will be welcome to be involved too.

Background to Competition

In 2004 I and some other artists took part in a competition involved with Empire Interactive and Diesel UK. The aim of the competion was the best 10 mixes produced with various ejay products.

Prizes in 2004
The winners would be featured on a prmotional cd. Each winner received a copy of Techno 4, and a bag of promo CD' s including the mixes of the ten winners. Colin Jooseman was one of the judges so this is serious pre-credit crunch nostalgia.

Origins of US2K Back then my alias was Bull-E. Well it was towards the end of the rave scene. There had been previously artists such as Smart-E' s who produced the warehouse classic "Trip to Trumpton" and so it was a perfectly normal kind of artist name, and I was more entitled to such a name than most as my given surname is Bulley. I dropped the "y" and suddenly had a really trendy name for the time. Despite producing extremely unorthodox music I impressed the judges and so become one of the lucky winners.

This competition of course is a warm up to the free Electronic Music Promotion event being held on 23rd and 24th July at the same time as the main ROX 21st festival. More details can be found here here
