Techno 5 Mixes.

The mixes on this page are used with the TECHNO 5 programme. If any of the mixes contain any samples from the other EJay programmes then you will not be able to hear the full mix unless you have these programmes as well... The mixes are all zipped, because they are faster for you to download. If a mix has any "imported" or "tweeked" samples, they are normally saved into the mix, but it makes the file size much larger. Any message or text that you want to send with your mix will be added as well, unless stated otherwise..

US2K Review: This mix is better than the previous submission by Dj Psycho. This one seems to have more thought in its structure and flows much better. It is a wee bit repetitive in places, as despite improvement the artist is still yet to understand fully the balance between variation and repetition. Overall I score this mix 6.5 out of 10 and would say it would be very suitable for filmscore or computer game music. I invite other visitors to have a listen and comment on this mix.

US2K Review: This track is of a structure not so different from early old skool ( The Bannana Song by G.S.P springs to mind released in 1992 ).It begins with a bass drum and hi hat. A dominant bass line enters and steadily more percussion leading to a clap drum roll and a reverse cymbal. At the 36 second mark there is a synth bass riff on the sample "E-Bass Danza 1". I mention that by name as it of my opinion that it should be used with care, for example layered within a harmony of more than instrument. It is not all the artists fault as really it is shame on the now defunct empire for including it. Ejayers expected a standard of instrument sound and this is most definitely not it. Further to my opinion this is the worst part of this mix as it sounds like music my early Sinclair Spectrum ( over 25 years ago ) produced. It is however an artist' s responsibility to choose good sounds, although it is possible empire was trusted too much here. Slowly a better trance/rave synth line is faded in, and after 1 minute it provides a powerful solo. This flows to a reverse cymbal which announces a very good acid house lead sample, bass drum and hat, shortly joined by a clap. This section ends a little prematurely as my foot started tapping at the 1 minute 40 second mark. Albeit an intelligent clap roll and reverse cymbal is used to end the section. To repeat this longer would have required ever another melodic instrument, a fade out and back in of the acid instrument, another percussive instrument added to later repetitions, or an occasional vocal. The section could have been repeated a further 30 seconds which may seem a short time but when you listen it makes a big difference. Of at the 1 min 40 sec mark there is now something that should have been played earlier instead of the "E-Bass Danza 1" section. Well of course it is another rave bass line but this time it being answered by playing in a higher chord on later repeats. It is of course the "hook" because it is extremely catchy, and I would have structured the track round it for old skool style. I have already supplied the artist with a remix in modern style just to demonstrate flow, so I did not do this. I would like to hear Dj Psycho do it though. This "hook" repeats until the 2 min 7 sec mark, after which there is another cymbal and a synth lead, new drum beat and finally the classical violin and opera singing section. This is near the end of the track and its rave so your listener wants to dance particularly as they have already heard the rhythm drop many times. I am going to suggest one way of keeping this track flowing so that at the end your listener is on a natural high, as there are others. My way takes into consideration there was no harm in fading the higher synth sample from 2:14 in whilst the hook continues to play. Towards the end the hook can fade out leaving the synthesizer playing (acting like a string section) solo with/without drum pattern as the classical piece is faded in. These two pieces played together are the concluding hook that leaves the listener with their arms in the air. My score is 5 out of 10. It is early but competent material for a fairly young producer, who is yet to get a full understanding of the potential of the Techno 5 package. There are some very good ideas, and I see an understanding of musical structure. By modern standards there is a weakness in flow and If my ideas were attempted this track would go up in score. On the other hand dj Psycho may just have produced something avante-garde and yet to be appreciated. I invite others to please listen and make their own comments.

Hi Nigel many thanks for replying so fast Here is the info which i would have placed with the Ejay Mix file if i had been able to lol This track is a D and Bass experiment, even tho the tune sounds like it,s going to roll of it,s own axle at times that is what made it real fun to write. Techno 5 comin alive . lol. Many thanks for listening to the tune, hope u Enjoy

US2K Review: U Come My way has a very appropiate introduction for the genre. The track has excellent variations throughout progressing and building along a structured theme well.My score is 10 out of 10. It is one of the best mixes on this site ever and I would buy this if it were on sale. The vocals and sound effects are suberb and the vocals are spot on, and later the atmospheric pad string sounds. The conclusion is timed right and works well. There is everything here that makes a great drum and bass track. The production and mixing is spot on too, better than I can do. Everything is nicely equalised and blended.I will have to review this again at some point in more detail as it is such a long mix with so many good details

This is yet another D and Bass track, i think there are some strong elements of traditional D and B in this track, what i mean is... a blend of Old skool , Nu skool, and there is also a sutle vibe of Electro at times, not really sure how that happened, lol Anyway i hope you Enjoy, Ps to all listeners and TJ5 producers i have some Trance,Techno, on its way. Big Up To Nigel for his work behind the scenes . if you wish to drop me a line....about the tracks or somthing else

US2K Review: The Introduction is appropriate for genre and the steady build of drums and percussion, is skillfully done. Sound fx are used to announce changes, punchy baselines, and powerful rhythm lead synths make the track very exciting. At 1 minute 20 secs a nice string enters mix making things become very mellow. These strings are accompanied with some great rhythmic lead synth lines and mellow pads. The drums are dropped about right at 2:20and the dreamy female vocal is great. There are lovely rising scale sound effects and intermittent acid riffs, I can hear the old skool coming through clearly. At the 4 minute mark you have a great variation with a new vocal byte and a few different fx and synth sounds. The entire mix is blended, stereo positioned and produced superbly. This is another great example of commercial quality drum and bass. I score this track 10 out of 10.

Hello, after a little break with ejay i have created a new mix with t5. It's a mix of retro house and techno. Enjoy.

US2K Review: The introduction is immediately foot tapping. At bar 13, an atmospheric vocal and crash introduces the mellow house solo well giving a break from the beat, at bar 25 another solo melody enters. Several melodys works so well due to intelligent fades. Afterwards a build up again takes palce, starting with the bass and a drum roll, then a full accompaniment making a catchy hook. Then there is another drop of the drums with a new mellow solo that compliments the main hook when it returns after an effective bass drum roll and build but this time with the new mellow synth line, in fact by bar 79 all the elements from the rest of the track are combined very well together as what would be classed as in classical music an orchestral crescendo. The production, mixing, arrangement, use of crashes and variation is superb making a very commercial music which is definitely worth a listen. My score is 8.5 out of 10, as it is a little let down due to the full potential of the title not being explored.

US2K Review: My score for your mix is 8 out of 10 it is very atmospheric and original piece of electro, very suitable music for sci-fi movie, reminds me a little of Vangelis which is quite a compliment. I loved your track. My only Improvement I can suggest is perhaps is the track being a little longer or the inclusion of a musical section that is dramatic at the middle or end.

Hi mate, here is my newest tune and also my 2th t5 mix. I think this one is more leaning to the style of trance

US2K Review: The track begins with an immediately catchy hook melody. Gradually layers of drums, bass, and strings are added, being announced by drum rolls crashes and vox . At the 1:13 mark there is a really mellow melody based on the theme of the main hook, forming a superb middle 8. Drums, bass and strings all come in over time. At 2.31 a robot vocal re-introduces the main hook and the bass drums and strings are added expertly once again to the mix, and the mix eventually fades out to a crash at the 3:33 minutes mark. The general use of mastering effects and sound affects is almsot spot on and I have to score this mix with 8.5 out of 10 as I would buy it if it was on sale.

My first mix with t5 and it's a mix between electro and techno. It's a try out because the program is new for me.Greetings Andy

US2K Review: The track is well put together. The Planet mover (PM) as an accent every 4 bars, later every 2 bars works well. Drums build well starting with hat at bar 9, and extra snare. A break at bar 23 with clap and lighter bass drum works well. Digi Fault adds interest to the mix. Later robot vox and synth prevents the track from becoming repetitive, as does later break. The track finishes appropriately .I score this track with a 6. Highly skilled mix but lacks a little imagination in places.

Created end of February 2008. This the first collaboration by Noah and me. This is quite good but we are going to get better. The mix to demonstrate that certin base line melody combinations will get boring unless a discord or out of tune moment is included which I am sure those with a keen music ear will notice.

Hi Nigel, the recent week is going good with music making so here is another song. This is a mellow house track. Enjoy!

US2K Review: An immediately catchy house melody introduces the track. A drum roll annouces more instruments including the very punchy percussion after 13 secs. The track builds and at the 27 and 34 sec positions new snares enter. At the 50-58 mark there is a slow dropping of instruments drum roll and vocal to introduce a new mellow solo melody which becomes very catchy once a very well chosen bass joins it. The melody is skillfully faded out. The vocal returns to reintroduce the original hook at 2:29 which continues to a conclusion with an extra snare and drum roll, crash combination. General structure, fx, crashes and drum rolls are all expert. Improvements would have been a louder vocal. Also had the R-Pad synth been dropped for a bar or two when the new snare entered, there would have been more variation to the mix. Also the two new snares could have taken turns instead of being played at the same time or simply varied the one on channel 10 a bit. My score is 8.5 out of 10. A very good listen.

The object of this song was to make a 70 - 80 bpm song and it turned out alright I thing. hope you all liked it

US2K Review: The track has a well organised structure, evident after the 2:48 mark when the solo leads from the 1:32 and 2:22 marks are played together in harmony. There are some pleasant melodys and thoughtful musical arrangements, played over a suitable rhythm. The change of beat temporarily at the 4:22 mark to a syncapated rhythm similar to drum and bass was really imaginitive. The drum rolls are effective to introduce changes. I think this track has promise, particularly for film score music but presentlty the changes are at times not subtle enough and other parts need more variation, a sound effect or crash in the middle of each 4 bar repeat of a lead would break things ups, as loops are more evident at the slow bpm used. Also I would not use the E-Bass instrument as the track is untended to be mellow, the D-Bass instrument would sound great when combined with T Lead 4 for a nice variation. I like your originality and imaginative ideas and so my score is 5 out of 10
