  The mixes on this page are used with the HIPHOP 5 programme. If any of the mixes contain any samples from the other EJay programmes then you will not be able to hear the full mix unless you have these programmes as well... The mixes are all zipped, because they are faster for you to download. If a mix has any "imported" or "tweeked" samples, they are normally saved into the mix, but it makes the file size much larger. Any message or text that you want to send with your mix will be added as well, unless stated otherwise..

US2K Review: This track begins on a funky swing hip-hop beat, 20 seconds after a sound effect the bass enters and a brass hook is faded in building the musical theme 1. After 44 seconds there is brass and bass drum solo. After a sound effect at the 1-minute mark theme 1 returns and continues. At the 1 minute 47 mark there is a break and bass drum with percussion solo until the 2:29 mark. After which the track gets quite foot tapping with a new theme (theme 2) which includes additional percussion and a rhythmic guitar sound lead.. There is another break at 2:50 until 3:09, which in my opinion is too soon, awkward and lasts too long. The track continues towards the 5-minute mark with the brass or guitar sound taking lead with the bass. After which the two instruments play together, harmonising and seeming to encourage one another. This is my favourite part of the track. The 5 21 mark after a sound effect slowly drops off instruments towards to a conclusion. The bass drum and bass note section lasts too long as does the drum section up the final finish at 6 minutes 45 seconds. This is of course with the exception of music designed to be background to a movie. I score this track with 6.5 out of 10 (7.5 if movie score or for dance practice) because there are in the main sections that repeat way too long. I can guarantee if the mix and its sections were halved in length this mix will be scoring over 8, the alternative would be the occasional inclusion of another instrument. It does have promise and I request visitors to have a listen.

No extra packages needed to listen to this mix Message sent with this Mix: US2K Review: This is an exciting introduction of the "crowd sound" and the hit of the cymbal followed by a hip-hop groove and punchy percussive vox. After 16 seconds the lead mellow vocal, organ, and bass guitar enter the mix. Things are very funky already at this point. At the 37 seconds there is a drop of the groove, the vocals and guitar and organ. At the 42 mark the "Sweet sensation" and "Come on Come on" create a lovely hook in the mix. After 1 minute a flute like sound adds some variation the other vocals, wooden block percussion, and other instruments lead the mix to a mellow but funky conclusion. My score of this hip-hop track is 10 out of 10. The thing that particularly clever about this mix is the "crowd sound" is used skill-fully at various parts of the mix and general overall sound creates an atmosphere of a live performance. Even the hit of the tambourine at the beginning sounds like real musician. I recommend everyone has a listen to this excellent hip hop track and sees the video on you tube.

After 27 seconds there is an atmospheric sound effect that introduces a very serious emotional melody formed by appearances of various instrument sounds including strings and pad sounds. At the 2 minute mark there is a drop of the drums and a sound effect and a new really moody piano melody drives the mix towards a main conclusions. At 3:17 mark there is the conclusion on an acid like bass sound, harsh sounding synth guitar sound stabs and strings. At 3:49 the mix finishes on the guitar stabs. Having listened to this mix again I have re-classified it. The score goes up to 9 but it is not hip-hop or funk, it is a really well structured piece of atmospheric movie theme tune or listening music. I did not realise what this was originally as you have to be in the right mood to listen.

Shortly after the introduction begins on a really danceable dance/techno bass, the hook melody. After a few seconds the bass drum and snare enters the mix shortly followed by a shaker and acid click percussion, instead of the usual hi-hat, forming the main hook groove. At the 29-second mark there is sound effect which sounds like a helicopter slower down which replaces a crash very well to announce a change in the music. There is a break where the hook melody solos with atmospheric sound effects including a smashed glass sound, for a few seconds. After the break the main groove is announced with a replacement sound effect for a reversed cymbal. The groove this time is joined by a hi-hat, sound effects and other percussion is placed on the right of the stereo field, and a distinctly female vocal. This is excellent at this point, reminding me of "David Guetta". At the minute mark there is another break, this time a more complex vocal, and snares, shortly joined by a closed hat and a clap to give the listener more interest. When the main groove returns a very commercial lsounding male vox "Let me take you" enters the mix. The rest of the track continues in this way, driven with clever crashes, and other sound fx, and echoed distorted version of earlier vocals, breaks and variations of the main groove. The final conclusion at 2:43 is on the bass hook line and a sound effect. The whole track has been infectiously danceable, and of commercial standard, I just had to score it at 10 out of 10. This track is definitely worth a listen to everybody.

No extra EJay programmes needed to listen to this mix. Message sent with this Mix: US2K Review: Track starts with sci-fi synth sound, and a funky beat and electro bass. Pad sounds, and mysterious sounds come in to play a mellow slightly eerie introduction melody. After 30 seconds there is a break in the beat and a chime/bell jingle sound effect. Shortly after a sound effect introduces a another theme, this one is one is more traditional hip hop in feel, including record scratches,led by a funky brass/orchestral stab riff. After 56 seconds there is an occasional electronic piano playing a harmony that hints on a return of the eerie theme which theme fully returns after another break in the drums at the 1 min 20 sec mark. This time the theme is accompanied by glass/chime like sound effects and strings. At the 2.05 mark there is a variation of the earlier melody but with a new lead guitar sound and really moody bass at times. The track continues in this way, with the right mix of funkiness and atmosphere. Variation and interest is kept for approximately a further 2 minutes by changing the arrangement of instruments and the occasional use of some very well chosen strings.The final conclusion is on a string sound series of repeated guitar note sounds that seem to resolve a scale used in the track elegantly. My score for this mellow funky film-score like track is 10 out of 10. It is well structured, has good variation and interest within it, and use of effects to announce changes in the music is superb. It would be interesting to hear a less mellow, vocal version of this track, but it is excellent anyway, I certainly recommend everyone have a listen for a real treat.

Message sent with this Mix: Sorry no mix file US2K Review: This is an excellent mellow but funky hip hop track, which makes me think of walking in a US city. This has a funky vox an piano introduction. After 10 seconds the first drum layer enters.After 20 secs there is well timed snare drum fill and another layer of swinging syncopated snare drums, and clap, shortly joined by a brass section, which is well layered in. A Guitar and a sophisticated series of jazz organ sections enter the mix. The arrangements vary up to the 1 minute sec mark, after which the main drum, brass and organ drops from the mix and there are a suitable series of lead vocals accompanied by a mellow harmony vox. At the 2 minute 2 second mark there is a fill and the main theme of piano, brass and organ returns this time joined by wonderful strings. These drive a groove to the conclusion of the mix very well, which is a soloed harp sound. I had to give this track 10 out of 10 as it sounds so funky, excellent structural arrangement, stereo positioning, production and mixing. I would question it being ejay if it were not for the fact I heard a few typical ejay sounds in the layers. I did not perform any sound processing on this mix as it was already an mp3. I recommend everyone has a listen to this as it is superb.

Sorry no mix file Message sent with this Mix: I started using ejay just recently; I preferred making pure hip hop music since there are many sounds to construct, I believe the secret lies on choosing the right sounds, this one however, I was a bit hasty. US2K Review: This has a mellow introduction using guitar, harpsichord, bass and piano sounds. These continue for 20 seconds into track then a enter drums, a vox and an occasional shot gun sample. These continue with piano leading the arrangement until shortly before the 2 minute. The drums and other instruments drop and when they re-enter a new guitar lead enters and the mix progressively becomes more funky. At the 3 minute mark there is a concluding theme on harpsichord sound and drums. The final conclusion is an a sound effect which is a cross between a crash and an explosion. I agree with the artist on this one that it is not worked out to its best, the main issue to me is the piano line and shotgun at times is a little corny and makes the track sound like a demo you would get on a musical keyboard. Also I was not totally convinced about some combinations of instruments. Still this mix still gets a very reasonable score of 8 out of 10 as is very well produced and worth and well worth a listen.

Message sent with this Mix: Right don`t judge me too much by this mix i threw it together in like 5 mins but do let me know what you thinkI`ve attached the mix file if it helps wasnt aware that you would need it. As for the track i wanted to see how a drum and bass style intro and build up would fit with a hip hoplow rider style, so any comments and feedback on any of the tracks that i submit is taken on board and appreciated. US2K Review: I have been asked to not be too critical as its a musical 5 minute experiment, but too make a general comment, which is, I like what I hear. Is it you rapping? although hip hop is not my favourite genre I love all music and wish I could rap like that. As requested not too much criticism but I will say the track will work better If you repeat the musical ideas between the 31 to 51 second mark to restate the strongest theme in my opinion a little before the conclusion. Just because its hip hop does not mean traditional structure from classical and true rhythm and blues should be ignored. You may notice how much better the whole thing will flow better.
