hello nigel, Here is my new mix, the base is made ??with ejay7, but then I mixed it again and put in some vocals. let the summer begin !!!!!

US2K Review: The mix begins immediately with the basis of a hook riff. This consists of a catchy piano riff, most likely to be chords but I cannot sure, and a drum pattern, including bass drum, clap and full Latin percussion. To keep the mix interesting there is a slow build of accompaniment layers. The first is after 14 seconds, a bass line playing root notes of the chords, and 14 seconds later another instrument, a harpsichord enters the mix right of the stereo field to answer, add energy and drive the existing musical hook pattern, and 66 seconds into the mix there is also another piano melody that completes the arrangement. The chosen progression of the mix is excellent at maintaining interest up to the minute mark, where a significant change takes place. It is interesting that although this musical passage is obviously a middle 8 or bridge that because it also another strong hook that answers the earlier one it acts also like a chorus, and is able to continue as an affective accompaniment for the main hook on the piano when it returns at the one minute 20 second position, and the second piano 16 seconds later. The result is a new variation of the hook that remains catchy until the two-minute fifty-four position in the mix, at which point there is one final change for the concluding musical theme.

The conclusion consists of an arrangement consisting of two melody lines answering each other, played by electronic piano, alternative bass line and a more laid back drum pattern. The bass drum leaves the mix at the minute 15-second position to leave the rest of the arrangement to continue to the sudden finish at two minute 30 seconds. Some may not like the abrupt ending but I think because of the there is a delay trail left behind by one of the instruments a natural fade out results.

My final analysis of this mix is that the structure is intelligent. Also the choice of musical arrangements and use of fills/crashes etc. to indicate variations or maintain interest is very well done. The melody lines are catchy and the drum patterns are very addictive. The use of stereo positioning, delay reverb and general productions in this mix are excellent but the provisional score of 8 out of 10 stands because this, instrumental version of 'Hot Latina' is not as good as the Vocal version also by John here

Sounds dark but it feel soft?????

US2K Review: This mix begins with a full dance 4 on the floor drum pattern, including bass drum, clap, hats and percussion. This groove very is soon joined by a synthetic flute sound playing a "broken melody". What I mean by this term is that the melody is not constant but intermittent like a backing jazz saxophone player and the notes played are only being used to add interest rather than lead or create a hook. After 16 seconds a more catchy lead melody (hook1) begins on a more artificial trance/techno sound, and then 16 seconds later another change is the additional higher octave and synth string accompaniment melodies that really complement and lift the mix. At the 45 seconds position in the mix there is a drop of the drum pattern and hook 1. This new musical bridge is joined with some atmospheric spooky vocoder vox, and a low octave slightly menacing ancient sounding low octave pad sound. At this point the listener begins to enjoy themselves more. After five seconds the bass drum and snare return, before the full arrangement returns including hook 1 but one of the earlier accompaniment instruments is replaced with the ancient sounding pad. The vocoded vocals continue to make occasional "appearances" and there is some nice coconut percussion at the 1 minute twenty five second mark, the "broken flute melody" leaves the mix followed by hook 1 and a new Egyptian/acid scale based melody takes over as lead. This works effectively with the ancient theme of 'DarkRedKross'.The mix is already extremely catchy but gets even better when the lead line is shortly played by a more percussive sounding instrument later. There is a change from Egyptian to a more 90s acid/techno feel. This lead finishes around two minute thirty three second positions, when the "broken melody" on the synthetic flute returns, the vocoded vox and drums to lead. At the two minute 48 second mix position there is a second bridge where all the drums are dropped. This bridge reintroduces some one of the earlier synthesiser melodies. There is a nice slow reintroduction of percussive instruments until the full groove is reinstated. By the three minute 42 second position the coconut percussion has returned followed by the catchy acid lead. This time pleasingly it lasts longer, for a catchy conclusion. It leaves the mix 22 seconds before the end leaving the menacing low octave synth/pad from the first bridge and drum pattern to finish the mix. The final end is instant but not abrupt, with the tail end of a note from the low octave pad used to smooth things out a little. My evaluation of this 90s dance mix is it is very well structured, has some very catchy musical moments, arrangements are interesting and the ethereal elements are brilliant. My score for this is 8 out of 10 and I recommend everyone listen to this imaginative composition who enjoys 90s dance music.

I really digging the groove on this mix!!!!

US2K Review: This mix begins immediately with an American detective type jazz hook played on an acid instrument, accompanied by an unusual jazz/swing bass-line which seems to pan left and right of the stereo field instead of staying central to the mix. There is also from the very start of the mix percussion and a clap. 10 seconds later, a snare and bass drum pattern is added forming a main groove. A low atmospheric whistle sound, similar to that used for the famous “Mission Impossible” score, enters the mix to add a sense of suspense. A crash is used to add variation and announce repeats of the hook. At the twenty seconds position of the mix a drum fill introduces a section where the hook line is played either on a bell/piano sound. This change creates a very atmospheric result. This new hook repeats a few times before an intelligently timed crash and one more further repeat of the hook-line announces the introduction is coming to a close after 35 seconds. Shortly after that change, a hi-hat pattern enters the mix. The hook is also dropped in favour of a series of alternative musical themes to fulfil the role of mini bridges. Each bridge is based on the hook to ensure a common theme. At the 51 second mark the bass drum is reduced in strength, and one of the hi hat patterns leaves the mix, giving a temporary well timed relief from the main groove. Also there is alternative melody and bass-line at this point creating a new theme, which seems to conjure a sense of expectation. This continues until minute position in the mix at which point a stronger bass drum joins the drum arrangement, and the hi-hat that left the mix earlier returns. Just when the mix is becoming too repetitive, all the instruments, except the bass-line and hi-hat, and clap are dropped. A variation melody that matches the hook is played by a new string lead. This lead enhances the sense of a detective series theme. A succession of bass drums return to the mix, first a lighter one, then a more powerful one, and the accent clap is supported by a similarly sounding snare, including fills. This powerful groove continues until the 1 minute 58 second mark, at which point the piano/bell lead enters the mix, complimenting the string nicely and re-stating the original hook line. The conclusion begins at the 2 minute 25 second mark and is simply a bass line solo accompanied by a drum arrangement, including snare, lighter bass drum and a less powerful hi hat. After a few repeats of this theme the snare is faded out slightly. The mix finally ends on the bass drum only around the 3-minute mark. My conclusion of Neon flash is the use of crashes, snare rolls, and other effect to indicate changes is very affective. I noticed at points in the mix the tail end of an open hi hat sound is used to do this job. It intrigues me if this was achieved by accident as much of the best results in music often do. Back to my analysis of the mix, the melody lines are memorable and the choice of instruments fitting. The arrangements variations, and the chosen stereo pan positions of the instruments within are very well thought out assisting in the creation of a very sophisticated musical structure for the entire composition. The use of two bass drums was a very good idea to enhance changes in groove. The genre of the music did not particularly require large amounts of delay or reverb and the overall production of this mix. This mix is an excellent techno track suitable for a detective or gangster film. I score it with 10 out of 10 and recommend everyone has a listen.

Just somthing for the dark cold days!!!have fun!!! and NIGEL happy newyear, keep going this way.

US2K Review: The introduction begins with a main dance groove, 4 on the floor drum pattern consisting of a bass drum, accent clap on every second beat, and hi hats. This is accompanied by a rhythmic lead played on a low octave harpsichord. After only 6 seconds the foot is already tapping. Left and right-panned happy electric piano lines join the lead to harmonise and form a hook. There are Intermitted bass lines which add punch and when the Latin sounding percussion at the 22 second mark the vibe is already infectiously danceable. The new hook (main hook) on the synth sound at the 30-second mark is very catchy. The piano being reduced to an occasional “jingly” piano scale to answer repeats of the hook is a very affective change. The break in the mix at the 52 second mark where the bass line and all drums leave the mix temporarily is timed spot on and what a professional touch I thought when the hook remains as a lower octave filtered harpsichord sound. It restates the theme of the mix well until the return of the hi-hat and a brief string to add some atmosphere enters the mix and of the bass returns. At the 1 minute 32 mark a siren sound and a subtle whoosh sound is used very well, for a change it does not sound out of place and succeeds in creating excitement and a serves the purpose of a crash to hint the return of the main groove. I am unsure if it was intended but the siren is blended so well it sounds almost like a live saxophone player. The main groove returns and the main hook and the mix continues in 90s dance style for a further 20 seconds until the next short break in the mix. This time only the bass drum and clap leave the mix and the hi-hat remains to create a sense of anticipation. After the break the listener is treated to a well thought out variation, formed by an earlier musical arrangement without the main hook, which is substituted for Latin percussion. This continues until the 2 minute 32 second mark where nearly all previously heard instruments leave the mix. The remaining clap and hi hat are joined by a new ravey/dancey sounding bridge lead on a harpsichord and an occasional atmospheric higher octave string/pad sounds. The pad at the 2 minute 45 second mark sounds great, a cross between oriental and sci-fi. I think the artist knew this arrangement was a great sound as it is used to form a second hook. If I had a few beers in a club I would have been dancing at this point for sure. The mix continues like this until the 3 minute 24 second mark at which point there is a final break of a form similar to the first in the mix but includes the second and first hooks. After a further few seconds, the conclusion is then announced very affectively with the siren/pseudo saxophone sound. The conclusion itself is the main hook from earlier including Latin percussion, followed a another short break of the drums and then a repeat of one of the other interesting variations from earlier but without the Latin percussion this time. The mix finally finishes on solely the drum pattern and then only the hi-hat and clap. My final conclusions of "Apollo" is that it is a very well produced 90s dance mix. Use of variation and instrument selection, as well as arrangement and stereo position demonstrates a very high level of musical expertise. The use of sound effects is intelligent. I particularly respected the use of the siren as it worked well fulfilling the role of the usual crashes and drum rolls without sounding "gimmicky" or "tacky". The melodies and drum sections are all very enjoyable. The entire composition is excellent. On reviewing this mix, and taking into consideration what was used to produce it, I rise the score to 10 out of 10. I suggest everyone has a listen to this a lovely happy/warm sounding 80s/90s dance mix.

This is a remix of John Samely' s very good Instrumental 90s techno track. My version is just a little darker.

Max MotionReview: This track starts with a homemade vocal , is it Nige on the MC? , combined with an atmospheric sample and an acid bass , sounds pretty ok , then we get the ` Bad Dreams ` sample which is overdone for me together with the original `Nige Sample` and the cut down `Dreams` which i prefer without the `Bad `lol!!. Just after the 1 min mark a really annoying sample hits us , big mistake , maybe you should have distorted it or picked another sample , ruins the feel of the track for me. The track changes little for the remainder of the track but floats along quite nicely and sounds pretty good apart from that `sample` hitting me in my left earphone . Again with Nige , this track could be so much better , pity there isn`t any remixers out there , they seem to have disapeared of the face of the planet , is it just me who likes remixing other peoples tracks i ask myself..............?.zzzzzzzzzz

Max MotionReview: Maybe i should have added ` me and Nige `when it comes to remixing lol!!. If you listen to the original you can see how much smoother it runs than this track.

Fast beats and bad tuns will make you move on the dancefloor(lol) just enjoy it I hope????

US2K Review: This track begins with an almost immediately catchy combination of squelchy acid riff, lower octave bass and 4 on the floor bass drum. An atmospheric organ sound at the 7 seconds and an acid sweep at the 16-second mark is used to keep interest. The later sound also last long enough to introduce the main groove which is the previous 4 on the floor bass drum with additional accent clap and percussion 24 seconds into the mix. By the 30 second mark the mix is already very foot tapping and 2 seconds later an atmospheric sound effect which reminds me of the impossible mission sound-track adds further interest to the mix shortly before a new lead melody and sweeps play an alternative theme. 56 seconds into the mix the bass line and mood of the mix has changed at this point from dance floor to movie-score, including "detective series" strings at the 1 minute 2 second mark. This is confirmed at the 1 minute 20 second mark, when a mysterious but catchy jazz-like lead hook is played on a piano sound. This instrument is shortly afterwards accompanied by a series of mysterious sound synth pads to great affect. At the two-minute mark all instrument leave the mix except the main groove and bass line. This forms the first of a set of theme for the track bridge without the drums leaving the mix. Two minutes 24 seconds into the mix the second theme is announces by a cymbal crash. The second bridge theme is initially a "detective series" string pattern and main groove without baseline but one of the melody lines from earlier joins the arrangement about a second later, and then the bass returns too. From then on the musical themes from earlier take turns at leading the mix, the piano hook being the most important instrument in my opinion. The mix continues this way with occasional additional low sweep sounds until the 4 minute 23 second mark where it abruptly but successfully ends. I say this because the sudden finish works so well. My conclusion is this mix is very intelligently structured, and arranged. The use of fills, crashes, sound effects, choice of instrument and musical variation is excellent. To sum it all up "Bad Dreams" is a very good 90s dance inspired mix which in its present form an excellent film score with lots of potential for becoming a dance track with very little change. My final score is 9 out of 10 as it is well worth a listen!

HOT HOTER burning10

US2K Review: (Guest Review from Max Motion) This track has an 80s feel. It begins with a reasonably sounding 30 seconds of synth ( main synth line) , drum clap line. This is followed by the drums dropping to form a "sound builds up break" with the main keyboard continuing, joined by a second synth forming a groove at the 50 second mark, before the drums return. After another breakdown at around the 1 min 30 mark with the main synth line dominating the arrangement, the beat builds with clap variations and a really nice effects sample at the 1 min 50 mark. This announces a really nice main chorus and further fx. At the 2 min 35 mark there is a main break consisting of the original synth line and variations towards the 3 min 40 mark. At this point the drums kick back in accompanied by a few claps again. At the 4 minute mark another nice flanged type of synth pad kicks in, continuing for 45 seconds. The next break down allows this pad to slowly fade out leaving the main synth keyboard to finish the track. My score of this track is 7 out of 10 because it is ok. It started a little too quickly for me, and there were a few gripes in it. The break-down sample effects used at the 2.35 and 4.45 mark I did not like at all, something a little stronger was needed. Also the synth from the first half of the mix was replaced by a synth pad in the second half, which seemed to me the wrong way round without another sample to drive the mix later on. (US2K) Thank you Max

Any extra info, or message for your mix: some new stuff I made

US2K Review: This acid house track,by one the sites regular talents, begins with a typical old skool pad/string hook line, atmospheric sounds, and percussion, and later an atmospheric sweep which introduces a harpsichord/piano sound, and a percussive high pitched electronic gong sound. 22 seconds into the mix a hi hat, and techno bass line join the mix. Shortly after a 4 on the floor bass drum pattern with accent clap on every second beat is introduced (The main groove). The mix is already foot tapping and rather catchy. A particular siren sound, which I normally do not like to hear in ejay mixes, is used well in `Alpatio`, to introduce a change in the mix. This change is a new musical arrangement of the main groove and gong with less hi hats, a new acid line, and later an organ sound, playing an Egyptian sounding melody. This already sounds interesting but then the listener is treated to a rather catchy and fitting bass line, and very powerful second accent snare. The track is very danceable a this point. After 4 repeats of this catchy theme, 1 minute 24 seconds in the mix, a sound like a factory robot and the siren from earlier (quieter this time) introduces the a bridge. This is a drop of the groove leaving an arrangement of only hi hats a new nostalgic catchy acid line, the gong and one of the leads from earlier. At the one-minute thirty-seven mark that typical drop of the percussion to leave an acid solo is used well. The timing is spot for bringing back the four on the floor drum pattern back. Then the mix progresses further, with the catchy bass line and a temporary additional rhythmic acid line, claps and other percussion not heard before in the mix. This is effectively an extension of the bridge forming middle eight. From the 2 minute 2 second mark the main groove returns, (including hi hats and full percussion) with a succession of the Egyptian sounding organ line and catchy old skool pad/string hood and electric piano/harpsichord sound. These catchy musical sections drive the mix to a conclusion, which is the electric piano/harpsichord sound and drum groove, and then all percussive and drum sound are dropped from the mix leaving this instrument to solo for the end at the 3 minute 10 second mark. My opinion of this mix is that it is a very good example of 90s old skool acid house. It is very well structured, intelligently arranged. There is also well chosen variations of instruments including drums and percussion., and very skilful use of sound effects to announce changes . My score for the mix is 8 out of 10 and I suggest everyone into the genre have a listen, as I spent my days of sixth form listening to music not unlike this on Kiss FM. It will at least remind you of a great musical and Cultural Revolution.

When you mix soft and hard tunes

US2K Review: This mix begins with a rhythmic melody, hi hat and accent clap. Shortly after a few seconds a sub-bass makes a temporary "appearance", joined by pads, on its departure leaving some strings and the original melody and percussion. This is joined by a new lead to complete the introduction. The main theme enters at 33 seconds into the mix after a drum roll. Others have referred to this melody as happy and danceable and catchy. Well yes I agree but think it is annoyingly so. It is not bad but reminds me of one of those early plinky (blame empire for including the sound in Dance ejay 7) irritating techno jingles on the Sega Master System which as I child I would deliberately turn up louder if I had a peer from school visiting just to play on my system, as I did not "exist" before home time, if they were better than me at the game and spending too long on it lol; and that always made them leave soon after. Back to the review, the track is driven by a full drum pattern ( main groove) consisting of clap, hi-hats and bass drum, and continues competently enough with new instrument melody sounds and eventually a nice bass sound.

At the 1 minute 1 second mark, during the first break and drop of the drums and main theme lead when things improve in my opinion, with the new square wave synth sound and bassy sound and some other variation melodies. This arrangement forms a new theme (theme 2) that some relief to the listener. Later when the main theme returns it is not annoying. I think this is because the plinky lead has a good bass and percussive bottom end synth reducing its presence this time.I did actually start to enjoy it and find it catchy without being irritating at this point, and it steadily improves. I particularly appreciate the sophisticated drum patternwhich includes occasional roles and fills. A second break in the mix takes place at 1 minute 52. An alternative lead sound plays to create additional variation in the mix. From the 2 minute 6 second mark an alternative theme is themed from the bass , sweepy sounding synth sounds, and atmospheric string/pad sounds. Whilst these instrument variations are taking place the drum pattern is changing too, the clap gathers speed by changing from an accent clap to one that follows the rhythm of the bass drum that creates a sense of increasing excitement. The track progresses to another break from the groove, leaving instruments from earlier in place but introducing a new string, which creates a sense of intensity. At the 2-minute 40 mark the main theme including the plinky lead. Pads and other synth sounds provide variation and drive the mix forwards. After a short break and a drum roll at the 3 minute 8 second mark theme two returns but with a full drum groove this time. To make things even better some string/pad sounds are added over time to build energy towards a final break resulting from all drums periodically leaving the mix. This bridge introduces a third theme which forms the basis of the conclusion, which is finale arrangement formed from a combination of instruments from the earlier themes, full drum groove, plus a well chosen new synthesiser melody. This conclusion sounded great to me, and even the abrupt stop at the 4 minute 35 second mark works well.

Despite my initial mocking this mix is very well structured and proves great musical skill. There are also great demonstrations of imagination and creativity, and production is reasonable although some choice of instruments could have been improved. Redeeming factors are the intelligently planned drum pattern variations. My final score on this mix is 6.5 out of 10. I know some visitors will like it. I recommend it to be listened to with an open mind, as although it is not going to be the next club hit well at least in its existing form, and I cannot say it's one of my favourite mixes on this site, but it is a respectable piece of art, and something that others can learn from.

Some funk and drums great beats are in this mix,all made whit great love fore music.

US2K Review: This track begins with mellow organ, which is followed by a reverse cymbal and percussive Latin sounding drums. After a cymbal at the 23-second mark atmospheric vocals and occasional snares enter the mix. This main vibe continues until the 53 second mark after which a female vocal introduces some additional synthesizer accompaniments, followed by a drum roll announcing a bass drum, pulsing bass line, which drive but are not strong enough to spoil the mellow feel of the mix. The percussion, snares, bass drum, vocals and original organ sound occasionally broken up with cymbals sound fx, and a variety of pad sound periodically drive the mix to effectively to the 2 minute 14 second mark. At this point there is a phase of music that serves as a variation and a bridge. This consists of the atmospheric male vox, percussion and a more rhythmic bass line. At the 2 minute 33 when the higher octave synth melody joins in the mix is very catchy. At the 2 minute 56 mark the bass drum leaves the mix leaving the original mellow organ sound to recreate a chilled feeling. Gradually the bass drums and other elements of the mix return to form the original main vibe. The mix finishes on the 3 minute 50 seconds mark with the organ, a mellow pad and finally a crash. Having listened to this mix again, I think it is much better than I originally thought and its genre has to change. Electronic listening is an understatement, it is early 90s trance with a Latin house influence. It is very well structured, produced. Variations, drum rolls, sound effects, sound choice and arrangement is spot on. My score is 10 out of 10. All you Latin house/early 90s trance fans I suggest you have a listen.

Let the summer come!!!!!!

US2K Review: This mix goes immediately into the main theme. This is a main happy lead synth line, guitar/harpsichord like harmony, bass line, bass drum, accent clap, hi hats, various percussion and a series of female "ooohh", "so high" and similar vocals. After the 36 second mark a more rhythmic synth melody line plays (theme 2) without vocals, but shortly after, 56 seconds into the mix, there is a crash and the vocals and happy lead returns. The main theme continues until the 1.27 position, and then a bridge formed from the bass line and drums only plays for 7 seconds. After this point all the drums and percussion are dropped leaving the bass line to solo. One of the happy vocals is used skilfully to introduce elements of the main theme, and later a crash announces the rest of the instruments and vocals. At the 2 minute 52 mark theme 2 returns later with vocals and a conclusion is formed out of interesting varying combinations of harmonically compatible musical arrangements from the different earlier musical themes. "Turn The Tide" finally finishes instantly on one of the vocals "yeah" after 4 minutes 20 seconds. This is a very happy, well structured mix, which flows very well, and has very skilled use of variation, panning, sounds effects, crashes and other fills. I would suggest it is suitable for television, computer game background music, or in a club or festival/carnival situation for chillout listening to or possibly dancing to. My score is 8 out of 10 for this, and I recommend that everyone has a listen to it for its cheerfulness.

Close your eyes and feel the the vibes of the AVATAR!!!!

US2K Review: This mix begins with laughing vox, bass drum, closed hat, and a melody line on high octave organ/synth sample. This is shortly joined by a second instrument sound, forming what I consider to be the main theme of this mix. After 28 seconds and a crash there is a more punchy bass line and synth combination soon accompanied by a variation of the main theme. At the 1 minute 22 second mark, the lead synthesiser plays some intense notes and leaves the mix; the percussion and vox section creates a nice break in the mix. At the 1 minute 26 second mark the lead synthesiser returns and just when things are getting a little repetitive, at the 2 minute 5 second mark the main theme returns followed by the start of a catchier theme that really becomes foot tapping at the 2 minute 42 second mark. The mix conclusion is on a full drum pattern and bass line with a climatic abrupt finish. This is a very well produced piece of listening techno or film score music, which is mostly well structured, varied and generally interesting, demonstrating great talent. My score is 8 out of 10. It is of my opinion that the conclusion was repeated too many times without any sounds or variations to break it up. Also an improvement for me would have been the mix end on either a crash or even better the laugh vox from earlier to restate the theme. Regardless of these minor niggles of mine, I recommend that everyone who enjoys listening or ambient techno, should hear this great piece of music.
